The World Cement Association (WCA) launched Sept. 27 to represent and promote the cement industry worldwide, as well as support the commercial and legal interests of its members internationally.
The association offers four types of memberships: corporate, associate corporate, affiliate and individual. Corporate membership is for cement or clinker manufacturers. Representatives must be at chairman or CEO level or have top level executive responsibility for the member company or its cement division.
Associate corporate memberships are for companies which support the cement and clinker industry including but not limited to equipment manufacturers, construction products producers, admixture manufacturers, and shipping and trading companies. National and regional associations and other related industry bodies fall under affiliate membership. Individual members can be from any of the market sectors mentioned above or other stakeholders in the cement industry.
Members have access to WCA’s comprehensive cement industry statistical data service, as well as an HR platform that advertises job opportunities and projects. Senior representatives of cement manufacturers will be eligible to join the “CEMENTFORCE” online CEO forum, which will bring together industry leaders to undertake social welfare projects. WCA members will also benefit from international legal support and industrial mediation services, as well as advice on quality standards and compliance around the world.
The association aims to promote industry best practice at all levels, especially in emerging markets, with focus areas including sustainability, climate change, health and safety, and promoting fair trade practices worldwide.
On Dec. 13 members and guests are due to convene at the Savoy in London for the World Cement Association General Assembly, followed by a gala dinner.
